We do not use pumps in any of our coffee brewers. Instead, we use natural percolation to flow the heated water through the brewer and over the coffee grounds. It is normal for about 2-4 oz of water to remain in the boiling element once the brew cycle is complete. It is not necessary to remove this water if you are brewing on a regular basis. If you make coffee less frequently, go on vacation, or are in a freezing environment, we recommend emptying the brewer. To do so, remove the brew basket, brew basket lid, and water reservoir lid and turn your brewer upside down over the sink.
