Do I need to use the footplate with my thermal carafe brewer?

The footplate is required for thermal carafe brewers with an automatic drip-stop brew basket, including the KBGT and CDGT.

The footplate raises the carafe to the correct height so it can fully open the brew basket’s drip-stop mechanism. Without the footplate, coffee may drain slowly from the brew basket, causing an overflow or making it appear that the brewer is leaking.

The footplate is not required for models with a manual-adjust drip-stop brew basket, including the KBT, KBTS, CDT, and CDT Grand.
