Why do thermal carafe models come with two lids?

Every Moccamaster thermal carafe coffee brewer comes with a Brew-Thru Lid and a Travel Lid.

• The Brew-Thru Lid is engineered to allow coffee to drip directly into the carafe and minimize heat loss while brewing. You can pour your coffee through the Brew-Thru Lid without loosening or removing it. If used properly, your coffee will stay hot for up to an hour.
• The Travel Lid is for keeping coffee hot for longer than an hour or when traveling with your carafe. The Travel Lid may also be poured through, but you will need to loosen it by ¼ to ½ turn to expose the pour spout within the lid. After pouring, retighten the lid to keep the coffee warm to make the carafe spill-proof.
